Born and raised in Hamilton, Alfie Smith took up guitar at the age of 13. His music owes as much to the past as to the present, blending Blues, Folk, ragtime & Jazz to create a unique sound.A multi-instrumentalist, Alfie's talented fingers lovingly free the voice of each of his individual "babies". Whether howling blues on his National Delphi, picking a delicate original on his flattop, punching out ragtime on his 30's vintage archtop, swinging with some old timey jazz on his banjo or a wailing a gospel tune on his lap steel, Alfie's playing is honest and tasty.Alfie's third CD, " Buckshot Blues" is being released in the fall 2003. With 14 original tracks and two classic covers it is a true representation of his live show. Using his voice as an instrument he draws you into his deep abiding passion for the music he performs. As live as a project can ever be " Buckshot Blues" was recorded just under 4 hours with only one overdub.Alfie has been a featured performer at the Harbourfront Blues Festival, Mariposa, Home County, Eaglewood, Mill Race and Octoberfolk Festivals ; and played such fine theatres as the Sanderson Center in Brantford, the Lighthouse Theatre in Port Dover, Cambridge Art Centre and the Waterloo Community Arts Centre. He was selected for an official showcase at O.C.F.F IN 2002.**********************************************************
